Membership Newsletter #205 August, 2010
Hi Guys and Gals, Sadly I must inform you that due to marketing plan difficulties the October 9th Doo-Wopp for Disabilities show has been cancelled. Thanks to all of you who already purchased tickets and you who planned to attend. Hopefully, we will be scheduling something in the future. Our thanks go out to all the performers and people responsible for planning this great event. Unfortunately, the Delmonicos’ original 2nd tenor and still active member of the group, Nick DiBona, passed away very recently. He will be sorely missed. Condolences to his wife, family and fellow group members. Charlie and Pam Horner host a fabulous website ready for you to view at www.classicurbanharmony.net. Make sure you take advantage of all the time and effort the Horner's devote to sharing these treasures with all of us. They are always updating the site with well researched and definitive information hard to find in many other places. A real must read is their "Our Events Calendar" page. Thanks to you both, Charlie and Pam. It’s All About The Music keeps you informed about the music we love. You can advertise or consult this tri-yearly work for information regarding all the relevant events featuring the music we love and taking place in this region of the U.S. Give Andrea Siegel a call at 718-356-6089 and let's keep this wonderful music alive for us all to share. Issue 92 of Echoes of the Past features a very special tribute article to Johnny Maestro. This well done story was written by none other than Charlie Horner and Todd Baptista with contributions from Pamela Horner. Bob Belniak does a great job recruiting and maintaining a fine staff of writers who explore and expand, often with in-person interviews of group personnel, the available store of knowledge of our beloved music. Keep this source alive by calling Bob at 413-786-1929 or email him at echoes.past@yahoo.com for more details. We can't forget to thank our Phil May for providing another online outlet for our music -click on www.live365.com/stations/stationpgha to connect yourself. He very kindly hosts an outlet for rebroadcast of the “Walkin’ With Mr. Lee” and “Lady M’s Solid Gold Saturday Evening” shows originally heard on WRDV-FM and you will be able to hear his own “Jersey Phil” show broadcast live on DooWop Cafe. Phil plays more great music at www.eastcoastdoowop.com also available through Live365. Thanks for everything, Phil. Don’t forget - Mr. Lee and Lady M are also re-aired weekly on Destination DooWop (at www.destinationdoowop.com.) Check the schedule there for times for both shows. Have a great end of the Summer and a Happy Labor Day. I’ll get back to you Guys and Gals in a little bit . . . As always, a Big Hello to the Guys in Collegeville and Yes, I called Bill and Hillary and tried to get you guys invited –sorry, I did my best! Please remember we DO NOT EMAIL THE NEWSLETTER.
